Ocean Sunset WIP!

This will likely be my very last painting with GIMP 2.6/ MyPaint 1.0/ Ubuntu 11.04. Sad day

I've got a shiny new Ubuntu 13.04 install on a new SSD, almost ready to go live. I'll finally have the latest GIMP and MyPaint.

Now that I'm getting used to the features, I'm finding the new GIMP very enjoyable. I was a little disappointed with 2.7, although a large part of that was the general instability of my Ubuntu 11.04 installation (It wasn't that bad, but it definitely had a couple quirks that reared their ugly heads at inopportune times).

Sadly, I lost interest in this painting. I got pretty far, but it needs a foreground and I haven't thought of anything that interests me enough. Here's as far as I got:

Maybe once I get some more free time, I'll wrap it up. I've been super busy at work. My new WIP (that I started to test out the new version of MyPaint) has interested me more.

It's definitely nice to be able to easily flip back and forth between MyPaint and GIMP.

If you want you can send me the xcf/ora file of the sunset image and I can try and finish it...Kinda like an indirect collab.

I really like the second image, it's very calm and pretty, I think of Japanese cherry trees a little bit with it.

I was getting tired of always having green trees.

I wouldn't mind if you or anyone else wanted to add onto it. I'd be curious to see what others came up with.

The .xcf file size is 100MB, though :shock:

I usually work with canvas widths in the 4500 - 6000 px range. This one is 5500.

Well you could post a version of what you have only half the original size as an image and I could work with that.
That canvas size is way too big for my little laptop. xD
