The background is derived from a old french paint , i don't know much of the author , except the name and dates " Pierre-Denis II. (1663-1742) ", that i modified with gimp
That was loaded as background image (you may think as a background layer ) and on that i rendered the 3D object, in this case the temple

thank..and yes the first was maybe more in tone with a old paint but i too prefer more contrasted
PS There are some details that are no visible at the size displayed by Gimpchat ... maybe are visible enlarging , for sure are clear looking at full size here
