Better you add your fonts into:
C:/Users/yourusername/.gimp-2.8/fonts
It's not a good practice to change/add something directly under ProgramFiles/Gimp 2

Also, do you know where I can get some really great comic book fonts? Their wedding is Harley Quinn and Deadpool themed so that's what I'm making the Save the Date's with, along with a comic book appearance.

I do not know about great, but the first hit on a search is

ImageThank you for that informative video....I am assuming that is you that created the video?

I have actually done all that it says in fact and nothing is happening..... from moving the files into the "fonts" section (see pic) to also restarting Gimp and refreshing the fonts.

I am getting so darn frustrated, lol.
I really need to get this done...it's like I've hit a brick wall and until I figure this darn issue out I can't move forward with creating the Save the Date's for my daughter's wedding.... sorry if I'm "whining". :gaah

Btw my OS is Windows 7 and yes the files I am trying to transfer are True Type fonts.

Thank you so much for all your help and input.

God bless!!

Oh and are you Irish? It sounds like it if that is you that made the video. My great-grandmother was. Love hearing the accent.

Cr8iveCr8ion, I have Windows 7. This is what I do. I go to Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Windows>Fonts
then I add the fonts I want to the fonts folder, and then restart Gimp, go to the fonts tab and refresh the fonts. They should show up. I hope this helps.

You deserve to be confused.

From your post this is where you have your fonts. Not the correct place. (too many screenshots to show in-line)

The standard locations for Windows Gimp fonts, other than as a Windows installed font are shown in Edit -> Preferences -> Folders -> Fonts

However there is no folder C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\fonts You would have to create one.

The correct place for fonts that are only used by Gimp is in your Gimp profile as referenced by all the other posts C:\Users\your_name\.gimp-2.8\fonts

So I can't find my post where I was asking for help in getting the fonts I downloaded to show up in my Gimp.
I know to the Gimp pros on here what I'm sharing will seem like I'm preaching to the choir director", lol....but for the amateur's or the one's left scratching their heads this is for you.
I wanted to share with you here that I got the problem solved....along with an issue of my brushes disappearing.
Well disaster averted thanks to an awesome member here by the name of "ofnuts" who suggested that I...
1. Open the Program
2. Go to Edit>Preferences>Folders>
3. Choose either "Fonts" (or Brushes...or whatever you're trying to transfer to)
4. Looking at what/where Gimp is saying the fonts/brushes/etc. are being stored.
5. Then going into your downloads on your computer choose the file you want and extract them and choose where they go in the "Browse" box.

I chose when extracting the fonts to place them here:
C:\ProgramFiles\Gimp2\share\gimp\2.0\fonts

(now side note ....I didn't see a folder for fonts under "2.0" so I made one. So I am going to safely assume this is probably ok to do so with other folders you don't see. But I could be wrong ....so the pro's out there feel free to chime in and help out.)

Anyway, hope this is really helpful. And thank you again to the member "ofnuts" for all your help.

It seems that you are making this way too hard on yourself. In your original post, you said you wanted to add fonts to gimp. You and I both have Windows 7. I gave you instructions on how to install fonts and how to access them in gimp. Staring a brand new thread would just confuse you even further.
My comment to you was this:

If you follow it, you should have no problems installing fonts to gimp and locating them in gimp.

An alternate is to navigate to wherever you saved the font when you downloaded it, right click the font and choose "Install" (I have Windows 7 at work). Next time you open Gimp, it should be there.
