The connection is so simple as Sherlock Holmes would say to Watson
You know Sherlock Holmes, at soon he found a sigaret butt lying on the street he immediatly come to the only logic conclusion:
that cigarette was smoked by a Greek man, wearing black shoes n42 a man suffering of miopia but that dislike wear glasses, that is, obviously, the secret lover of both the princess of Whales and her daughter ,a dangerous man that also insulted a hobo in Australia

So since you could not found the linux version of the twist filter the link for a series of good but unrelated gimp tutorial should be http://tuxradar.com/gimp ....is not obvious ? :pipe

I needed a laugh, today, thanks PC and O. But on the Twist filter, didn't I post about that here already. Hmmmm...

Update: Yes, page 2 of Disco Ball thread. It included a ready to go binary in the zip. I compiled it from source, without realizing that (I noticed I had two twist executables after the compile, and one was locked). :hehe

The local library just got, The Artist’s Guide to GIMP by Michael J. Hammel. It cover's Gimp 2.8, I checked it out and I'm reading it right now. The author says he started with Gimp v0.54 before (GTK+).

Taking a glance at some files of this collection, I have been impressed at how well such tutorials are written and illustrated.
So thank you, PhotoComix and Oregonian, for letting us discover them.
