Been Experimenting with the Maps to see how they relate to the image when mapped, these two maps have been created to show how the mapping appears to work and therefore might mean some control over design will be possible.
Would like to experiment now with rings radiating from the centre to see the effect that has.

First Map I've called simon because it reminds me of that classic 80's game. Here are the results

The second Map I've called colour wheel because that's what it is. Here are the results

@SysTemX - Both of those are cool. The Dr. Strange map actually turned out nice.

Excellent, he4rty. I think you're exactly right. Seeing how images are mapped will help us create maps to produce the final result we're after. It might be helpful to step though the depth values slowly, in interactive mode, to see how changing those values affect the way a given map is reflected onto an object, which could allow for more effective map creation.

Also, how does the shape and size of the map affect the final result? Questions inquiring minds would like to know the answer to. :hehe

Thanks GnuTux
I did a little experimenting similar to he4rty using different colored square maps (with 5 pixel transparent border) to track the color placement. it appeared to differ to that of SEMs though :puzzled . I did get a little insight into it however. I now make my maps in a set fashion. I even discovered semi clear liquid finishes could be achieved.

Thanks for the interesting maps. I'll try 'em out.

That's sounds cool. Hopefully, you will share an example of that, when you have the time. :2thup

Here's another one that came out nicely.

I used BRL from the Create menu, with only the bevel slope option of Flat changed/used. I'm not sure if Flat is the default bevel slope option.
