You're right, ofnuts. Whenever I estimate IT related projects, I calculate how much time it will take, then triple it. That usually works out about right and if I happen to come in early, I get kudos. :mrgreen:

Looks like I am still missing some files from the old host. I think my FTP app might have maxed out on the number of files (old host has recursion limits set too low). I'm gonna grab a full root backup from the old host and will try extracting the rest of the files from there.

@GnuTux: Have there been any changes or resource limits set?
Last two mornings, opening more than 10 browser tabs to the site seems to cause subsequent connections to 'hang' waiting for reply from gimpchat.com.
Just wondering if it is just my end or has anyone else experienced similar.
Found no messages in the router eg blacklisted sites etc, but a reboot of my router seems to allow those 'stuck' tabs to connect.
However, I notice that the previously stuck tabs are now no longer logged in to the GC site.

Certainly, resource usage, in terms of bandwidth and CPU availability has improved with the move to the new host. I find the site to be much more responsive and snappy, especially after I bumped the bandwidth from 10mbits to 20Mbits last night. I can go higher, if needed.

I think what you are referring to is maximum number of connections to the server from a single IP. I'm not sure what that limit is but I can check. It should be pretty high, like 8 connections. Out of curiosity, why would you need 10 tabs open to GC at one time?

It's just how I surf, I have the board index open on one, and Ctrl click (open in new tab) each of the little yellow page icons to open that thread in a new tab at the position of the first unread post. I have always done it like that, and has always worked before. Sometimes I will have 20 or more tabs open to gimpchat.

There is a time limit on active sessions of 3600 seconds, which basically means that you are automatically logged out of a session after 1 hour of no activity. This has always been the case.

Let me know if it happens again. It could very well be the number of connects allowed from a single IP. Having 20 tabs open to the same website would be very confusing for me but hey, I understand that everyone is different and what works best for me, might not be what works best for you.

I'll investigate the number of connections issue and you can let me know if it happens again.

Ok, I just checked and there is no maximum number of connections per IP (except with FTP and that is 15 per IP).

There is a maximum total number of simultaneous connections to the mysql database, which is set to 500. I can increase that value if necessary but 500 seems high enough.

I just opened 30 tabs to GC and was able to surf and navigate in each tab without issues.

I suspect there might have been an issue with your ISP when you were having problems. If it happens to you again, check to see how many users are on GC (at the bottom of the index) and let me know what that number is. I can bump the mysql connections above 500 if we can confirm that 500 is too low.
