It's more of a reminder.

We still have the Mini-Chat available to us all.

Thanks for that reminder about live chat Wallace. It's funny how some features get overlooked over time? Just because you have to wait till somebody is online is no reason to forget it completely.

Can anyone advise on why when I open a picture it opens on it's side or even upside-down

When a picture is taken by a camera, the camera always encodes the picture in "landscape" (exactly as the sensor sees it) and adds an orientation indicator (+/-90° or 180°)(the camera has orientation sensors) to tell application software how the picture should be displayed.

As far as I can tell Gimp does the Right Thing... However there are applications that either remove the metadata (including the orientation) and some that re-encode the picture in the intended orientation but leave the original orientation indicator, so other apps end up applying a rotation to an image that is already rotated (the Windows image viewer in Windows XP was infamous for this).
