Firefox Now Blocks All Versions of Flash Plug-in By Default

Flash is a major vector for malware. Good move, I'd say.

Said this earlier (not sure if I said this here at GIMPChat), but, why hasn't anyone created a HTML5 wrapper to play Flash content? Again, coder I'm not, but seems like it should be able to be done.

So it isn't just my computer, a lot of times I can't play some of the vids people post.

I thought it was just my computer too, so I reinstalled it. So far, nothing has happened to my laptop that I can see. The version I installed was 18.0.0.209

Should I uninstall it?

Oh great. Now what will happen to all the flash based websites like on Wix? I have one for a chorus and now it may not be visible to a lot of people.

Firefox in Linux gives me the option to allow flash to run on a specific site, but the popup that asks me to allow flash on a given site, sometimes gets blocked by my popup blocker addon. As long as you trust the site, you should be able to tell Firefox to allow that site.

All and all though, it really is way past the time for Flash to go away and be replaced by HTML5. 1998 called and they want their crappy software back. :hehe

I wanted to have Wix morph the chorus site from flash to html 5 but they don't do that. I cannot imagine trying to rebuild it from scratch, I don't even remember what or how I did it!

How good is 'WOT' then.
I know it can't tell the trustworthiness of a site if it isn't used much.

I think WOT is pretty good. I use it when when the sites are marked in RED I don't open them. I think it is a good thing to have.

WOT is very good at what it does; if only for search site results from Google, DuckGoGo, Bing, etc., it's a must have add-on. Consider it an essential extra layer of security not a total solution. :2thup

BTW, For those with color vision deficiency in WOT advanced preferences there is the option, 'Enable color blind accessible version'.

The downside is that WOT (and other similar services) sends information about every site you visit to some server that checks to see if the site is "safe", whatever that means. Who decides what's safe? Are you being data mined and do you care?
