I just got a new update for it, and just figured out how to turn off Web Scanning, it would not allow me to access this site, or I think any phpBB forum as it is blocking them for HTML:infect. It also blocks Yahoo Mail and http://www.chatzy.com. If someone could find something wrong with those sites I would be fine with it blocking them. But what could be wrong with Yahoo? Or this site? Really?
I think there is something seriously wrong with either Avast or my computer.
Can anyone help?

Same thing here. It started happening after a virus definition update for me too. Had to disable webshield in order to get here.

YouTube is blocked too, and I even got a warning on google search (but not on firefox?) . It's like they see all scripts as malware. I googled and seems that a lot of people are affected the same way.

Hopefully they make a new update that fixes this soon. I'm trying to update manually but it says it cannot connect to the server. Maybe it's overloaded. In the mean time, only visit sites that you know are safe.

I am not the only one, I just was messing around in the settings and I made it ask me if it wanted to abort connect and so I refreshed this page and it asked, had to option to Abort Connection, and that was it, so I closed the popup hoping it would still load and well the page didn't.

Hopefully there will be an update soon, or I guess I'll have to go Rogue again
Or just active that Norton 360 that comes with Comcast, can't decide, Avast is soo much lighter than 360 I have heard.

There's usually an update once or twice a day. So I don't think this will last very long. You can only have one anti virus scanner installed at the same time so it won't be worth the trouble to switch unless it will take days.

Meanwhile I'll just stick to trusted websites and have webshield turned off. When it's fixed, clear your browser cache and then do a virus scan to be sure.

It's fixed. I've got webshield on and it seems to be fine again.

The Dutch are known (isn't true!) to be cheap with money. So I was making a joke about that prejudice.

I use the free version and you too I take it? I read about the fix on twitter.

It's a free open source virus program. I got tired of AVG blocking me all the time.
Clam Win hasn't messed with me yet. Also it doesn't bog down your computer.

It's not a good idea to have it as your main virus scanner. Every virus can get in and you need to remove it later. That means in order to keep your system clean you need to run the scanner every day. Doesn't that slow down your computer even more? Plus, that can turn out to be a big problem because lots of viruses, once they are active, corrupt the scanner. You've been lucky not to get a nasty virus like that.

The best free ones are Avira and Avast. Please consider switching to one of those. Avast is very lightweight too. Avira I think too, but never tried it. I've had experience with Avast for 6 years, either using it myself or family/friends. This is first time I've had (heard of) a problem with it. Mistakes can happen.

I uninstalled clam from my box couple of years ago.
At that time you could set it to scan everything that came in.
Too bad most computers run something originally made by a man who was an excellent businessman but very poor programmer.
Think of the worldwide misery caused to governments, businesses and individuals.
