I think i might have been here before...
I tried looking at the ECMA-130 but have not a clue where to start absorbing information from.
I think it's a really fascinating project though too bad it isn't complete or not in Python or some other language that we have access to (from what I know Matlab costs a ton of money).

Have you ever heard of Light Scribe?
I have an HP hard drive that has this functionality. It can burn images/labels, like what you see below.

While I do not have any personal experience with it, GNU Octave is supposed to handle the Matlab language. Version 4.0 was released just last week.

This project looks interesting, though probably a huge time sink. Bookmarking for a rainy day (week?).

I am planning to have a jacket of my DVD which contains some useful stuff about Gimp. I wanted to utilize my path patterns which I have recently created for this project. The background floral pattern of 4 petals got fit for this project. The number of this volume is also 4 about my DVDs about Gimp. So the number combination clicks. So far as the colours of the text are concerned they are total surprise. I wasted a lot of time while fitting text in this scenario but all of sudden 'Curves' and 'Colorize' changed the scenario from a dull and oridinary to something unique. What do you think?

In the past few days I have been learning to draw some geometric designs with Gimp and Inkscape. SVG files were brought into gimp. By chance I clicked on the folder icon and asked it to open with Gimp and I was surprised to see its dialogue box for SVG files. Marvelous.
Color prints are not so bright on the photos as they appear on the screen. So I decided to make B&W jackets by using some of the designs which I have created recently. These appear cheaper and good too.

I purchased a lightscribe for my last PC (was a bare-bones) but never used that function. My current CD drive is not able to do lightscribe. Still, it was a cool idea I thought at the time.

I also used to have one such drive but that is not now out of order. When it was working special Lightscribe DVDs was not available in our local market. But lightscribed DVDs don't have four color images scribed on them. So lightinscrilbed images are monochrome images.
