One week old today, they're just getting hair and their own characteristics. Their eyes aren't open yet and their ears aren't open yet but it will all start happening at the same time. It's SO cool to hold them in my hand and watch them open their eyes for the first time and know that my face was the first thing they ever saw. With a lot of them after a lifetime my face is the last thing they ever see too. That's the down side.

Do you call them pups or kittens (assuming they're ferrets; could be rats knowing you though GMS; lol). Not sure of that, but didn't ferrets use to be called polecats? :)

They sure grow fast!
The one (3rd from the left), seems to be a rascal chewing on his siblings ear and all. :)

Will the 3rd one from the right keep it's two tone coloring?

They're rats, all the ferrets you buy these days are fixed. ferrets are called everything from ferret to carpet shark to hairball to polecat to a hundred other names, but these aren't ferrets.

Yep, from birth to 5 weeks and they're adults, small but fully functional, If you get my meaning. and yes, that one is what's called a hooded one, it will be that way it's whole life. The one on the farthest right and the one 4th from the right are berkshires. As soon as they start to run around i plan to put it on video and post it somewhere.

my biggest dog, a pretty big black lab is scared of them, every time we put one on the bed she clears out.

What do you do with all these rats GMS (snake food)? lol

My sister had a white albino Rat (was my nephew but he didn't take good care of it) for several years before it passed away. I'm just not into rats, but when I was a kid, my Dad did get me and my brother some gerbils and they did breed too (and would eat their young though one litter did make all the way to adults (then I had 6; lol).

To akky; I bet. lol

:)

Aww, look at their little tails! Can't wait to see them when they're fuzzy and running around. I'd love to see a video of baby rats. I've only ever seen adults ones sleeping in a tank at the pet store...

The rats we had were hooded ones. My sister and I still reminisce about our favorite...a large male named Speedy Gonzales. He had a cool personality and I swear he had a sense of humor, lol. In my memory he was almost as big as a small cat, but I was just a little kid, so I'm sure he was not "quite" that big!!!

Usually we keep one and take the rest to the local pet store. She sells them as hand raised pets. Ours are known to be gentler than mos. We sometmes trade them for a bag of rat food. She won't sell any of ours for snake food.

My wife likes hooded ones best. I prefer Berkshires
