Just found out that Billy passed away earlier today. I remember him as a kid when I saw him on TV preaching the gospel. He's counselled many presidents over his lifetime as well. So long Billy and God speed to your home; you will be missed.

I"ve always felt that he was one of the only (maybe THE only) true celebrity evangelist. He was the most down to earth, and while he did live well enough, his lifestyle seemed reigned back compared to many of the famous TV evangelists.

Seeing all the fakers that just want to milk folk for money, he actually walked the walk and have inspired many, 2-ton. You know a man by what legacy he's left. Franklin Graham and his sister do tremendous good work including Samaritan's Purse for instance.

It's the end of an era, I think. He had his bad moments, but he had his good moments too. I agree that he always seemed more genuine than a lot of the televangelists who came after him.
