Just tried to join a 3D modelling forum but was totally unsuccessful at completing the CAPTCHA "I'm not a robot" test. I wasted so much of my time retrying everything and still couldn't make it work so I gave up. :hoh :gaah Anybody else had similar difficulties?

Erisian: Should the question not be, "Who likes CAPTCha?"

I haven't tried to join a 3D modeling forum,
but I can say,
that some of the hoops one has to jumped through,
can be daunting at best.
It seems to be a sign of the times,
which can't always be avoided.

3D Forum - which?
I think that a specific address will be acceptable to try?
And only from experience - the lack of easy access is very suspicious - because it forces the repeated submission of our data (and direct access to your computer from their side) - without good software protection - you should know the opinion about the site ....

I have to agree with MareroQ on this.
That it does seem a bit suspect.
However,
any half decent security software,
should have detected any monkey business on their part.

It's a legit forum that seems to be used by serious artists and professionals. I have had problems with CAPTcha before and in both cases I have got around it in the end. I am now a member of the modelling forum. The problem is, you have to be able to see and recognize specifics in a series of very small pictures and also interpret things the way the creators of the software do. eg. do the pillars of a street sign constitute a street sign in this context? Does a van constitute a car? My difficulties at seeing very bad quality and tiny photos on a computer screen makes it all worse. I sometimes think clever people are often too absorbed in their intellectual pursuits to do straightforward, down to earth reality checks concerning practicality.

The captcha results(*) are used by Google to train AI. The street signs have been around for a a while, so the more obvious cases are likely solved and they are now on more difficult stuff, even for humans.

(*) some of them. They know the answers to the others but since you don't know which are the true questions and which are the checks you have to to your best for all of them. :evilgrin :evilgrin

@Erisian
I have noticed that there is a button on the captcha for an audible puzzle. I have never tried it, but thought it must be there for people with poor eyesight.

I just hate all the clicking for those captchas that require you to click on images (seems to take forever before finally you are in; lol). :)

Hey hello Erisian. Nice to know you cannot leave us. :)
I Despise being thought of as a robot/bot!

Actually the one thing that turns me off any site is for them to start asking for money / your credit card details etc. I will not go back there then.
