This one was originally emailed to me (WMV file), but I found the Youtube version. This one, if true, is wack to be sure, but I have to admit that I've not tried to vet it. :)

Sheesh! Wonder why lightning struck twice in the mostly same place and the same guy.

Wonder if it's real.

I was told by a friend that it is not, he said the Trees, would have taken one, and how is he supposed to stand up after getting hit by lightning twice? Let alone once?

Interesting how the flash from the first strike, lights up the front end of a car further down the drive (on the left), but the second strike occurs right in front of the same car but doesn't light up the car's front end.

My mistake: It was a passing car in the first strike.

Although some are saying this is fake, I'm not saying either way. But the light spread from the flash doesn't appear to change in the stills. I was expecting at least a minimal amount of change in how they reflected on the trees/leaves.

What i get a kick out of are the burnt spots in both spots of the strikes.Looks pretty real to me.
I had to play with forward and back to catch the first lightning strike but it is there. It's so fast i did not see it in the video like the second one.

Image

Holy crap i feel for that guy.You have to be blessed to walk away from that twice.

What a story to tell your Grand Kids though.

One thing i find interesting too is that after looking at Mahvins uploaded captures mine and his although on the same frame the lightning looks different to me.
This suggests to me the lightning is real because it changed shape through the strike.
It doesn't seem to be a quick addition to the frame. It seems to flow in changing as it enters the scene.

Could very well be real. :)

I still find it hard to believe someone could walk up seconds after the first let alone the second. Of course he could be part of the Q Continuum and being punished for interfering with our primative development. :)

All it takes is that the current not to travel through a vital organ. It's unclear in the video if it is raining, but if the guy was wet the current might well have traveled mostly in his clothes. Of course he mainly stumbles away, we don't know how burnt he really is. As for avoiding the trees, there is a famous case of lightning hitting a woman in a particular seat at a shock-full football stadium (and only her) - the lighting cloud was even several miles away, the charge travelling horisontally then down through the woman.

If this is real, it's really a cool thing that it happened to be caught on tape! Certainly looks real to me, but in this day and age, who knows.

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Roy G. Sullivan, a former U.S. park ranger, was struck by lightning seven times over the course of his 35-year career. Lightning has burned off his eyebrows, seared his shoulder, set his hair on fire, injured his ankle, and burned his belly and chest.

Wow, that is really disturbing to watch. Just amazing that he survived that.

I photographed a nice lightning bolt once a couple of years ago during the tail end of a thunder and lightning storm here locally:

WARNING: For anyone else ever thinking about doing this, I understood beforehand that I was taking a huge risk. The cost of getting a good lightning photograph could be your life. Doing anything out in a lightning storm is a serious risk to your life. In fact, if you are a young person and thinking of doing this, please talk with your parent's first along with researching it thoroughly! [/End of Warning]

Either way the guy should stay inside for a few days and be nice to everybody.

Wait, this is directed at the smart people here (everyone), as most of you are smarter than me, if the lightning struck there, wouldn't the massive amount of current screw with the camera at least some?

The current itself, although huge, travels in a conduit that is very small. What in principle could affect the camera is the associated magnetic field that surrounds any electrical conduit, even a lightning bolt. A rapidly fluctuating magnetic field can induce currents in other electrical components (this is how an EMP burst works). It's distance dependent and I'm not sure how susceptible a digital CCD camera would be to this in this case - and most especially if it would cause an effect noticeable in the video - a camera like this don't have much of a frame rate, so any glithching could have happened between frames after all.
At any rate, I don't think the lack of noticeable "glitch" necessarily mean much, imo.

Thanks Griatch! I just knew that Lightning was high power electricity and EMP Bursts are High Electricity burst type things, and I was wondering if it would be affected.

How is it even possible to stand up five seconds after you get struck by lightning?
That's, like, 10,000 to 200,000 amps! It only takes you only need 50mA across your heart to kill you, and I'm pretty sure that guy would've gotten it in the heart...

Let's just say, I'm pretty sure this is fake.

Ccbarr,
That is as perfect a lightning photo, as any I have ever seen! Better than any of mine!!

There are quite a few documented cases of people being struck multiple times. The most I am aware of was a park ranger, somewhere in the US, who has been struck on four separate occasions and survived. He had substantial injuries each time, but ended up with a full recovery on all.

The video may or may not be real, but I certainly can't attest to its authenticity.
