Depends on the camera... a 24Mpix camera is 6K by 4K pixels, so to produce a width of 1414213 pixels you need 236 pictures, likely 5-10% more to have some overlap (so about 250-260) and of course 1.5 times that in the other dimension, so you are talking about 260*260*1.5=101400 pictures. Needless to say, they have a rotating lens mount with a stepper motor...
