That's a Gnome shell extension. I've installed several of them and that one adds a drop down menu for applications. You can get some shell extensions from the repositories. You have to restart-X or reboot to activate extensions after installing them.

Yes. That one is Applications Menu by gcampax and it's in the Fedora repos. Look for 'shell-extension' to list them.

Rocket dock contains most of my important things. My Stuff folder contains several other folders which contain everything else

I used to really like Stardock, a lot! But it seems that they've like to skip and dance around Vista. They could get things to work in Vista that worked in XP and then 7 came out and catered to 7 and still left Vista behind. Said to say Vista has been pretty stable for the last three or four years.

Fences; it's a great utility! I have it on my wife's PC cause of all the crazy games (that's all she does) there's got to be a few hundred games on that box. So she just has one great big fence called games and knows to drag new stuff from the desktop to the fence.

But! I've found so many different ways that Fences could be enhanced and none of the ideas have ever made it. Not even into beta. IMO Stardock has really eased off the eye candy side and been trying to really focus on the games side.

Here's mine .. I'm some what of a minimalist. The few quick launch short cuts have and I just window button and type what program I'm looking for to start it.

1920 X 1080 on a 24" display. I'd love to have a 1920 x 1200 on something like a 28" But I think my desk would collapse! LoL

BTW: The texture that I used on the task bar was a metal flake texture that RobA put up in the forums ( http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3654&hilit=metal+flake&start=50#p45845 )

I've bought a lot from stardock bu stopped for reasons I can't remember. I used to be crazy about windows blinds.

Space.com shared a cool artist impression of Pluto and I gladly downloaded the wide image for my desktop. Thought I would share that with you all. Nice Christmas gift my my aging XP VM. lol

Gnome2 has forked into Mate.

After a year of Gnome3 shell hell, Mate seems like an old friend.

I haven't yet, so here's mine. Windows XP, that wallpaper I made and all my things that clutter up my desk. When it gets full like this, I ditch it all in that folder there labeled 'DESK'. And then I likely never look at it again unless forced by threat of bodily harm.

I saw a post a while back, I think it was something about Paintshop, but I liked the pic and thought I would try and recreate it. Here's my GIMP version desktop.

draconian: drac is back ! and that's a really cool picture, the light effect is almost blinding.
