Definitely overcooked. This add random white spots (more visible in the mountains on the second pic) and makes the top of the mountains very jagged.

You should also remove the road sign and the lamp post/telephone pole on the left.

I like them Lyle. Do you remember what filters you used?

And I was thinking those were just individual trees that I brought out in detail. lol

OK; still, my mind's eye likes it.

To answer Sallyanne, I used G'MIC's Bilateral filter set to grain extract, copied visible and set that result to grain Merge, then, on the Bilat filtered layer, I set to 50% Opacity, dupped it, and set the one above to Color and increased the opacity to taste. Note that the Top layer is set to Grain Merge; I duplicate it to taste to amplify the drama.
