I had to post this one from my area of the world. It's a Black Bear cub playing with the flag stick at the Mountainside Golf Course at the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in B.C.'s Rocky Mountains.

That bear wanted to play, too. Cute. He did everything he could to that flag. Didn't do much of a job scratching his back. Fun to watch. Those are the kind of bears we have here in the mountains on the coast. Those guys better be careful. They REALLY do not want to run into mama bear.

In Arizona that would be a shock.

In the Pacific Northwest and most of the rest of Canada Black Bears are a common sight, even in some urban areas. They normally don't care about you unless as Oregonian said, it's a Momma bear with cubs or a surprise encounter. Out hiking I've come across Black Bears up close lot's of times, with only a couple of potentially scary moments.

It made sport's "Play of the Day" on every news bulletin in Australia.

I hope smokey realizes he is now a movie star.
