I have officially joined the NaNoWriMo effort this year. If you don't know, NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is about writing a novel of 50000 words during the month of November.

I got started 3 days late but I've caught up and after one week I'm slightly ahead of schedule, with 15126 words until today; it's a fantasy novel with some characters that you may recognize.

I agree with Rod, but It would probably take me much longer than a year or more. I think I'd have better success/luck if I tried writing a Haiku.

Good luck, from reading your stories with your art, you seem to have a knack for writing. I'd love to read your result.

I love the idea of a National Novel Writing Month, I just wish it were in January or February. The end of the year is always just too busy a time for me.

I enjoy writing, always have. Most of my images are actually influenced by my stories rather than the other way around.

I hear you. End of the year is always busy, and his year is no different. I just decided to try it anyway (even got it into my head 3 days late, as mentioned). If I go up reasonably early I have so far (at least after one week) managed to squeeze in my daily word quota before going to work, sometimes having to do som minor fill-in with some more words in the evening. It's not too draining or time-consuming yet (but many tell me it's the 2nd/3rd week transition which is the toughest).

I crossed the 25 000 word limit today! Yay! I'm still a little ahead of schedule!

After a real push of almost 5000 words today I just crossed the 50 000 word goal line!



I'm really happy about this. Managing to write 50k words in 22 days is a lot more and faster than I expected.

Of course the current text is not anywhere near finished (that's what revisions are for) but I'm actually decently okay with the language and phrasings in this rough draft - I didn't just write nonsense or random stuff here and there to fill up the word count. Also didn't run into writer's block, which is one of those common issues many dread during NaNoWriMo.

My main problem now is that to actually finish the entire novel I would probably need yet another 50k words. We'll see how that goes but at least now I know that I can in principle keep attention and motivation up to do it.

But for now I'll go eat some cake and bask in this success for a little.
