I need to vent. Last night my ears perked at a question about Mac OSX El Capitan and GIMP 2.8.16. What do I do to my perfectly working GIMP 2.8.14 program with it's beautiful scripts and plugins etc., I downloaded and installed the new one. Nothing worked! Went back to 2.8.14 installed - there was some life last night but today?! Nothing - it opens but no scripts or plugins show up. They're all in the right place - I've directed GIMP as to where they are...nothing!

I'm about to do the unthinkable - I'm trashing (actually copying to an external drive) every script, plugin instance of GIMP and starting fresh.

I don't know how Mac works, when it comes to handling backups and system restore.
If Mac has an option to restore the system to an earlier time, when you know that your Gimp was working correctly.
You might be able to get everything back, if indeed that is an option available to you?

Wallace thank you so much for your suggestion. I did "research" if I could - unfortunately, there is no system restore to an earlier functioning configuration on a Mac. There is Time Machine which would mean hooking up to an external hard drive and backing up the entire system which I should have done prior to last night - why would I do that, it wouldn't give me a challenge or a chance to pull my hair out. I'm now on 2.8.16 and running on El Capitan. The only two items to figure out are G'mic and dinasset's most recent scripts; they're not showing up.

Done on 2.8.16 running El Capitan

This is exactly why I am still running Yosemite.
