Hi!

This is kinda 2 questions here...

1. How-many of you read ebooks on a "smart" device, and of you what device do you use?

2. Which is the better platform or would taking advantage of all be a good idea? (Apple, Andriod, Kindle [others idk about maybe?])

I don't know if this will help you, but I have an Android phone and an Android tablet, and I have the Kindle reading app on both, with several books I am reading.

I can't afford Apple stuff, so I use Android (and my laptops are Linux) and I can also add the Kindle reader in Chrome, so I have my books everywhere (of course this is just the books you may have through Amazon.) The only thing I don't like is that the Kindle reader doesn't seem to see anything that isn't an Amazon Kindle book. I have several epub's and pdf's saved that I need another reader to open. Calibre works well for those on my laptop, but I'm not sure if I can get it for my phone or tablet.... I usually just copy some to my SD card and use Foxit or Aldiko or something...

I had an iPhone when they first came out but didn't like their ecosystem and soon switched to Android. If you're considering ebook publishing it's fairly easy to produce quality PDF's and ePub. Free tool to consider, Scribus (layout/PDF), LibreOffice (layout/PDF), Sigil (ePub editor) and calibre (ePub editor and converter for many eBook formats). There are lots of web sites with publishing tips, publishing.about.com

BTW, We have a few Gimp Chat members who publish eBooks. Hopefully they will see your post.

I don't have a smart device. I do have a Kindle Touch and a Sony ereader. As to Question #2 I don't know what you're asking. Better platform? In what sense 'better'? Taking advantage of? Taking advantage how?

What are you trying to do?
