What is it?

Took this photo yesterday and have cut part of it out. Can you identify it?

Looks like the underside of a balcony.

I see a shim in there, so it is the underside of some kind of surface that you walk on, although at first glance it looked like shutters with shelves up against them, lol.

There looks to be a faint fabric like pattern (possibly for grip) on what could be rollers so my guess is the underside of a conveyor belt

It doesn't appear to be load-bearing; my guess would be it's part of a cabinet or façade? The joinery on the left side is the most interesting piece of the puzzle, I'm curious what's on the other side.

It's so long, it could be underside of a soffit on some kind of outbuilding?

As said before it does look like roofing but the more you look it could be a zillion things.

Those who said roofing were also right as it was under the edge of a roof of a carport. If you like I can post the whole photo later - I don't have it on this computer.

@ Lyle - don't know what your balconies look like - mine is only a straight concrete surface/ceiling outside.
@ iarga -yes! to be more specific, the overhang of the roof from the carports.
@ Meemaw - sorry, I doubt you would be walking on this.
@ 2-ton - what is a shim? See what I wrote to Meemaw
It is an out-building. soffit? (I need educating in some terms)

@ Steve - your not the first to think corrogated iron was fabric. Sorry none of those.
@ Wallace - roofing is partly correct. By the time I saw your post someone had got it.
@ Odinbc - definitely not load-bearing. The left side? I'm guessing you mean the part on the left of the slats of wood. That would be the top opening of the carports.
@ Bob Albion - roofing, partly.

Sallyanne, thank you for this little "quiz".

I didn't expect a closed "door". In the Netherlands we would call it a "garage". For more open structures we use "carport". It is funny that both words are loanwords in Dutch. We don't have typical Dutch words for such places (for cars).

Some people put 'garage doors' on their carports for more security, they are usually "open". You may/may not be able to see it, but only the 1st and 4th ones have doors. 2 & 3 don't have them.
