Has any one here heard of pkf files, and are there any free downloadable programs for them?

What is a PKF file?
Peak file created by Adobe Audition, an audio production application; contains waveform data related to a specific .WAV file; generated automatically when an audio file is opened or imported.
More Information
PKF files provide a visual display of the waveform within an audio file. Once a PKF file has been generated, the waveform does not need to be re-rendered each time the audio file or corresponding project file is opened.
NOTE: The PKF format was introduced in Adobe Audition CS5.5. It is similar to the .PK format used by previous versions of Audition, but contains floating-point data and can display waveform data for audio signals above 0dB. Since PKF files use a newer file format than PK files, they are only recognized by Audition CS5.5 and later.

Thanks, done all that and found that as well. Apparently it is a professional program format. Maybe they use it in Universities? Hoping maybe some one will find what I haven't.

Of course they would say they don't know of any other programs that could open it....But why would they when they can sell the original program.

Yes I know. Didn't know who else to ask. If no one here can tell me any thing about it I will have to ask the poster of this file if they can put it in another format.

No I haven't tried it. Saw it but didn't want the add ons it comes with

Which version? I had 8 and it wouldn't open and just updated to DC and it still wouldn't.

.pkf as used by Adobe Audition is an image file:

But it's an image of an audio waveform that's only used by Audition to save time, so it's very unlikely that any other software has been written to decode it.

All fixed!
I didn't even have to ask him to change the format. It is now in MP3. I think most people would have that. What I wanted to listen to was an interview - Genocide in Vietnam
