Where can I find out..

if a site is down? I can't even get into 'Down right now'
I can get into facebook, gmail, here of course, and even You Tube and can play vids.
EDIT Got into their site I think...through Google

But cannot access other sites even through Google

I thought maybe I needed the latest Flash Player for some things but can't even get that.

It might be a problem with a server at your internet provider, or the site itself.

I have thought of that....Maybe busy even? but it isn't only one site it's a few.
I can't have used up my data yet or I wouldn't be able to play videos.

Sometimes by resetting you router/modem,
by unplugging it from it's power source for about a minute and then plugging it back in.
Could solve this issue.

Also Flushing the DNS (domain name system) cache.
My also help to resolve these issues.

DNS cache (sometimes called a DNS Resolver Cache).
Is a temporary database,
maintained by a computer's operating system,
that contains records of all recent visits and attempted visits,
to Web sites and other Internet domains.

To Flush The DNS Cache
1. Open Command Prompt As Administrator.
2. Type in "ipconfig /flushdns",..................
(without quotation marks).....................
3. Press Enter...................................................

As an extra added measure,
I would run a scan with my security software.
To ensure nothing is lurking around on my system,
before doing any of the steps described above.

agree with Wallace.
I just had this happened to me like days ago, it doesn't happen very often but if i see loading screen loads too long for more than 1 site it's usually just solved by powering off my router for more than 10 seconds and turn it back on again.

Didn't have to empty cache. Think I did that a little while ago.

I think i read a long time ago I only remember vaguely, that your router/modem when your pc connects to it gets like a connection. If you have wifi and more devices connect to it it keeps getting connections.
over time I guess that's why it only happens after a long time for me anyways. these connections get dropped and your router keeps giving you new connections but the stale connections stay around and then eventually your router runs out of connections to give out not clearing the stale connections.
so resetting it makes your router fresh and full of connections to give out again.
