For the relative sizes, see Wikipedia For the distance, well, you cannot evaluate the distance in that singe shot. It just happens that seen from Mars the Moon and the Earth were more or less along the same axis. You can't see that the moon is roughly 380.000km closer. But Martians can see that the Moon swings around the Earth by approximately 30 Earth diameters.
What I learned from this picture's comments is at the moon is actually fairly dark... almost as dark as tarmac. It looks bright because the night sky is even darker...
