I've been trying to understand all this but simple information is hard to find. Does anybody know if Intel Celeron B820 supports Opengl3.3? I need it to run the latest Blender.

I thought OpenGL support is GPU-dependent.
"OpenGL (Open Graphics Library[3]) is a cross-language, cross-platform application programming interface (API) for rendering 2D and 3D vector graphics. The API is typically used to interact with a graphics processing unit (GPU), to achieve hardware-accelerated rendering."

But I found this:

Notes on Intel Celeron B820
The CPU is compatible with Shader Model 4.1, along with DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.1 APIs. OpenCL API is not supported.

No idea about your Celeron CPU, but I did just download the latest Blender v2.83.4 (Linux) on my i7 CPU system with no GPU and it seems to run fine for now anyway...

Yeah, it seems to be a Windows problem. All the sources say to update your graphics driver but the app I downloaded from Intel told me there were no available updates. I might not be able to run new versions of Blender sadly.

Try using "OpenGL Extensions Viewer 6" The program will give you a lot of info about your GPU's abilities.

It still allows you to render using CPU with "Cycles" render engine. You should also be able to use "Evee" render engine too.

Thanks Bilbo - I'll give that a shot. :)

Thanks Racer but the problem is, Blender won't even open because of this so I can't use it at all. :(

I ran the GLView tool and it is just as Nidhogg pointed out - my card supports 3.1 whereas Blender uses 3.3.

Great, now all you have to do is learn the 2.8 interface. I read that link and is says it will run very slow using that script. Good luck.

Thanks. In case it is too slow to be useable, I have downloaded Virtualbox to run Linux. Apparently Linux drivers are more up to date with regards OpenGL than Windoze.

I do the reverse. I run Linux and have a Win10 VM just for the handful of Windows only programs I occasionally use a couple times a year or so. Really I don't need Windows at all, but there are a couple of programs that I don't want to give up. Yes I can run them under Wine (the windows emulator not the drink), but I don't like Wine.
