The next batch has arrived. The last batch I posted a pic of was Meg's litter, this morning her sister, Rachel, had 17. She was in labor for 12 hours and we were getting worried but they're all here. Sorry, i don't have a pic yet, they're among the smallest babies I've seen.

17 but from sisters, not one mom. The first ones will be opening their eyes any day now. That's one of the coolest things I can think of. to hold them when they first open their eyes and know that I'm the first thing the ever see.

Yes, they're ugly, but then so is a human baby at first. none of them are over an inch long, small for rat babies. The first thing the mother does is give them a bath then put them where she wants them then provides their first lunch. The light color bands on their middle area are called milk bands and are indicators that their mom is doing her job. These will be her first and last litter it was too rough on her.

I don't find them ugly at all. So the milk bands are tummies full of milk showing through their skin?
