No Almonte, Is it a DVD you want to rip and convert into an avi?
I will try to get the tutorial to you but it has images so don't know if I can. Do you have Word.
You will also have to download DVD DeCrypter....

Xmedia Recode is good but when i grab youtube vids I always use Youtube HD transfer, you can download into different formats, grab them by the batch and just paste the URL with a button. I've found it very handy.

O, I thought it was a DVD you wanted to convert. I have never tried it with a U-tube vid so maybe Gms9810's way will work.

If you have Firefox, you should grab the addon: Video Download Helper. Video Download helper will download the video and convert it to an AVI (or other formats) in one step.

You'll need to download ffmpeg (or mencoder) which does the actual conversion. Select the conversion method under Video Download helper's preferences menu/convert. After that, you can just click "download & convert" on any youtube video.

I sometimes use Video Download helper, but as a matter of taking a stand i usually don't because their main is providing porn links. yes, you have to theoretically click the 'adult materia' box but i've had it send me to places in the past that I didn't want to go and i didn't tell them too. But it IS good not only for Youtube but videojug monkeysee etc. Flashgot does the same thing too without the porn suggestions.

I've never noticed anything porn related when using this addon so the porn stuff must not be too obvious.

it's not really obvious, which is good. if you click on the little rotating red blue and yellow ball things it will open a menu of sites hat it works with. At the bottom there is a check box to display adult content (not quite worded that way) which, if clicked, will pt a bunch of sites in red on the list. My wife and I decided to follow that out, so if you click one of those sites in red, it takes you directly to the downloa helper site (which malware bytes will block every time). You click the enter button there to enter the adult sites. That tells me they have an interest in those sites. The fact that malwarebytes trips out over it every single time is also a bad sign to me. It seems like everything with the word 'helper' in it is in some way nefarious.
I still have it on one of my computers because it's the only extension that will work on some sites (No, not porn sites.)
