I am sorry if I have not been on lately,but my laptop crashed.
I have borrowed one for one,but i can't add gimp on it,it is not mine.
I am hoping to be able to retrieve all the scripts i added when i buy my own again.
Just wanted to let You all know i did not desert you

Thanks! You could always download and install gimp portable on a pen drive if you're really looking to run gimp without actually installing it on a computer. That's what I do at work (lol)

Or maybe even install an entire system to a flash drive. I installed ubuntu 11.10 on a 16gb flashdrive. I installed my favorite programs -- including gimp, of course -- and still have more than 10gb free. I can boot up "my" system from any fairly new computer which can boot from usb. It's cool. I take it everywhere I go when I'm not using it. And my gimp setup has everything a fanatic could want. Try it out. And there are still enough people out there who haven't heard of any such thing as an OS on a flash drive. Impress a lot of people, hahaha.

That's a good point. I always have an Ubuntu pen handy as one of my main tools in my "windows fixin' toolbox"

make sure persistence is on and you can install programs and keep their settings.

You can do a live setup, yes, but I like to install as if the flash drive were a hard drive so I don't have to worry about persistence or losing settings. I use a liveusb created with unetbootin, boot up from the liveusb, then install to a second usb drive. So you need several USB ports. Just have to select the drive and format/partition it. Careful when selecting the drive so you don't install over the HD OS. .
