Who would ever have guessed there was so much behind what looks like at first glance to be such a simple fan. After watching the vid, it's anything but simple. Wonder who licensed it? MicroCrap maybe?

lol; no, don't think so Drac. They also believe this technology can be scaled up to use in air conditioning units. 30 times more efficient at transferring heat is nothing to sneeze at either as well as no more dust accummulation. Being 30 times more efficient would mean maybe better then liquid cooling schemes but, I have to admit that I've not done any research on liquid cooling systems in a long time now so don't know the answer (nor will I look this up now; lazy I am. lol).

I guess that I can appreciate this a little since my background was in analog and DC power electronics and heat was definitely a big issue with more then a few of my designs requiring various heatsinks (fans could not be used with those particular adaptors) as well as choosing the right resistors based on power consumptions (used the 4 times rule for those components). Anyway, 30 times more efficient is jaw dropping. You can really overclock without consequence so long as you have a way of venting all this heat. Amazing stuff. Really interested in airconditioning systems that use this technology. May even be a game changer if it significantly reduces the size of the external compressor housing and such.

Seems to me that if the impeller is going to "fling" dust away it needs to be caught by a removable vacuum tray system.

I have two big fans on my tower that removes heat from the inside and it occurred to me that these could be changed to those air foil thingys like you see at the store that are basically a big round circle with no blades. Air moves more efficently and no moving parts. That would move the dust out of the tower and super easy to wipe down if needed.
