Running around looking for more information on Filter Forge, i ran across this texture pack.Be forewarned it's a huge dl. (250 mb ), but i thought some of you may be interested.Download the texture pack here.
http://torley.s3.amazonaws.com/Torley-Textures.zip

Or you can view each texture separately and dl them that way.

Nice find. I don't use pre-made textures very often, but these are pretty good.

Thanks PhotoComix. Those are wonderful!

Here's one I did. It's seamless.

Used sphere in mathmap with the texture.

Cool texture and the sphere is beautiful...

but you remind the sphere of mathmap so i could not resist to see how my texture work...

well...(the white inside the sphere is transparency )

Are big ,( but may be scaled down a lot)...and seamless ...no transparencies this time

How did you get your background to come out transparent, PhotoComix? I used the ellipse tool to get rid of the bg.

I tried a sphere with one of yours. It looks a little blurry in the center.

About MathMap for best quality remember to check in "Setting" the supersampling box

about the BG

chose the Sphere filter,(that in Map menu, there is another in Distort ),
click preview
then the "User Values" tab
there in the bottom there is "background "if you click on the color bar will pop out a gimp color widget ....
pull the last slider "A" to the max

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like your sphere...we had a sort of sincronicity, few how ago i used a similar texture to use to confront the Gmic and Mathmap "sphere" filters

Quite stunning result all completly different

here the image i used

Ah! Thanks for the transparency info. Here's a pattern I made then made the sphere and came out with a transparent bg.

This was another interesting experiment. I started with a 500x500px image filled with black. Decomposed it. Ran solid noise on each layer of the decomposed image. Then ran the sphere filter on each layer and each layer had transparency around the sphere. When I composed the image, the colored background magically appeared.

Hey 'O',
I tried doing the same thing, and I too got the colorful background! I don't know why, but it came out sweet!
