What are you trying to do?
Scribus is a commercial grade publishing program like Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Publisher.
In Scribus everything is an object. A shape, line, frames, etc., are all objects that can be manipulated. The frames are just like a layer in Gimp or even more like Inkscape which you can align, stack, overlap, link. Just remember the object's context properties menus are your friend.

Follow the links on the right at, Get Started With Scribus:1 for a good overview.
Scribus manual, Help:TOC.

thanks guys for the tips. So far i have a nice advertisment made p for my cooking classes. nothing like way fancy but pretty nice for a newb. haha. i found a professor online who teaches a scribus course. he offers his tutorials for free so i downloaded them all and they are way good for beginners.

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=a1938bc6 ... =documents

the only ones that work are:

cookies.zip
scribus tutorials.zip
scribus tutorials 001.zip
shape levle.zip
text around image.zip
text to path.zip

all the above contain the graphics and other files needed to follow along.
