Conundrum

This is a primary school in my neighborhood. Can you guess what was the building before it was converted to a school? The stork on the side ('stork' is 'cigogne" in French) was already on the original building.

I really do not know, I would like to know story. Whatever, it was a great idea to keep that structure, looks great.

Yes, a wind tunnel. Hispano-Suiza was an aerospace company. The stork became its emblem after WWI because its engines powered the fighter planes (SPADs) of the French aces. My picture above is on the intake, your picture shows the other end:

(as you can see the plant parking lot is now a public garden).

Wish more places would revive old buildings rather than tearing them down and building these quick erect steel cladded monstrosities.

I googled Ecole La Cigogne and followed two pictures, one of which took me here. Then I just got drifted away reading about Hispano-Suiza. I like history. Thanks for the
conundrum which sparked my curiosity.

I know right, it's like these old buildings get no respect!
Some have been up over 100 years, leave them they're not going anyplace! @_@
