Issabella,
The bull was an attempt to make it a gold statue, perhaps I need to try again to get a more realistic result.

IMG_8598. Perspective correction (using Hugin) and a slight move of the black point in Colours/Curves to get the full dynamic range. You may prefer to crop the image somewhat tighter.

IMG_8424. I used an old-fashioned contrast mask and nothing more!
IMG_8422. Luminosity mask MMM with a major adjustment on the lower layer to bring out detail in the barrels and make the writing clear. Colour boost to make the wood appear warmer.

The latest three images. I decided they only needed slight adjustment using Colours/Curves.

IMG_8413. Black point moved to 10. Increase in mid-range brightness.
IMG_8414. Black point moved to 10. Slight increase in mid-range contrast.
IMG_8415. Black point moved to 24, Increase of mid-range contrast. Quality to 91 to reduce file size to less than 6MB.

Issabella,
I agree with you, a nice fun image from the Russian Museum.
The last four or five photographs I have made only slight changes, because they were already excellent.

Here is another try at the golden statue of the bull. My selection was not very accurate this time because I am trying to learn to draw accurately with a graphic pad and I fear my hand is not as steady with a pen as it is with the mouse!!!

David, I can see it like golden metal, just good work even with that difficult without a mouse. :clap :coolthup
You got it!

El Patio de los leones pic, isn't in Málaga. It's in Granada "La Alhambra". :)

When I saw this photo, a piece of guitar music started playing in my mind! - Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francis Tarrega.

Apart from removing ropes and posts, everything was done with Colours/Curves - on the floor to bring out the reflections, on the lions to try to show more detail and similarly on the buildings.

David, I understand it perfectly, special music comes to our minds seeing such a wonder. It's a magic place and a real treasure in Granada.
I like a lot your enhance. I tried it but I think I over contras it.

Issabella,
I like your result on the Alhambra. The only thing I did differently was to select the floor, the fountain with the lions and the remainder so that I could adjust them separately.

IMG_8405. I tried an experiment here - probably overdone!
I duplicated the original twice. Top layer, selected the bullring, added an alpha channel and deleted the background, then sharpened the layer.
Second layer added a layer mask with a gradient. Also reduced brightness and saturation slightly.
Bottom layer, blurred and reduced saturation and brightness.
The layer mask with the gradient means that the saturation and brightness reduce towards the top of the picture as the blur increases.
Your opinion welcome! The idea may work better on a more suitable subject.

IMG_8380. The water selected and given a big increase in contrast - I think water always deserves special treatment.
The remainder adjusted with Colours/Curves and a small colour increase.

david.

The Patio of the Lions. I was tempted to make more of the reflections as in this photograph. Which is better?

david & issabella: really good results on the alhambra photo! The enhanced reflection on the patio looks good, like something you could find on a professional postcard from the place - I like the first one better, but that's just my personal preference:).

Another of my experiments to make a subject stand out from its background (with apologies to racer-x for spoiling one of his excellent photographs).

I tried out that photo too, just changing the colour of the sky and back row of hills a bit and bringing the details out on the stone - maybe overdid that effect a bit, I'mnot sure what I think yet.
