David, you are right about reflection. I think that we could let those specific parts of the ships have lower opacity so that they can be bluish. What do you think?

The light will be a reflection of sky?

It is a good question David. Perhaps a photographer can explain or give good links?

To try to answer my own question!!!

I have opened the original RAW, extracted it into GIMP, stretched the dynamic range so that the histogram goes all the way from black to white, and then increased the saturation to 100% to accentuate all the colours.

Below is a small section of the photograph.

David, I can see the reflected blue colour on below part of the ship. So the natural way is that we should keep a little bluish colour there. Good observation. :bigthup :)
Tom, that example yours makes me think that if we use a vertical guide at that specific part of the photo we can get a good correction, too. I like it. :bigthup

David, I agree with you. I'm learning a lot too. :)
My tries on such beautiful photos. My flow is written at the bottom of each one. On "New Church" I used luminosity mask DD.

Issabella,

I will have to be careful what I think! You were reading my mind - I removed the white cable and used mask DD! :hehe
Also, perspective correction - the only place from which I could take the photograph was a partly constructed building opposite.

The Flower Pot picture, very gentle use of curves and saturation. Cropped to the main subject of interest.

Issabella,
My results very similar to yours, but I think I used more complicated methods to get there!

Both images rotated slightly to the right - my horizons usually slope that way - could it be that I have one leg shorter than the other!!!

Village street: I also took away the telephone cable (I hope they don't mind!).
Mask DDD to lighten the very darkest parts. Increased contrast, saturation and sharpened.

View of Zakynthos: I found a Luminosity Mask which isolated the sky and the island. I increased the contrast and saturation of that layer.
Another mask was used to lighten the sea and increase it's saturation (after I had painted with black over the foreground).
The foreground (bottom layer) - increased brightness and saturation.
Flattened image and sharpened.

david.

I tried a bunch off diferent things and finally lost track.
I remember the one with flowers I selected by color (the flowers) and ran freaky details twice.
Mostly adjusted levels on both.

SeriousTom,

Nice results!
All our results are different - we all have different interpretations of any scene, which is great - and we all steal ideas from each other!!!

my try on Village Street
the image is a bit "dull" (sorry, David) to my eyes, so I decided a strong variation
- unsharp mark (to get details)
- increase contrast (B) on mixer lab (to increase flowers colour)
- added a gradient (incandescent) (to apply a special light)

dinasset,

No need for apologies! The photograph of the village street was taken on an overcast day and definitely is dull - that is why I chose it for everyone to improve.

Your result is spectacular and very novel - I like it very much!

david.

David, you are right we have each a different interpretation and I like that a lot. :bigthup
I'm happy if I get to improve my results little by little. :)

Two more beautiful photographs!

Both images levelled - even a small part of one degree is noticeable.
Red Building: I drew a mask for the water so that I could treat it separately - increased contrast and saturation to emphasise the reflections.
Another (Luminosity Mask) was used to adjust the trees and middle-distance hills.
Increase saturation for the complete image and sharpened.

Still water: Similar process - masks for water, trees and sky. Slight increase in overall saturation and wavelet sharpening.
