To start Alchemy in Linux, I use a Terminal from the Alchemy folder with the following command.

Code: Select all

java -jar Alchemy.jar

To show the Alchemy toolbar hover at the top of the window.
FYI, I use OpenJDK as well.

It's a great program, shame it isn't still being developed. Here's something I made in 2009
