I had a whole half of a post butttttttt firefox exploded and adblocker uninstalled itself and all kinds of things I have to virus scan and fix it...anyway enough about my troubles. xD

I haven't had a whole lot of inspiration, and also been working on my game so it's been hard to really draw and do that. But I have 2 little things I've done..


This is ink and watercolor pencils along with normal watercolor, it's on 90lb mixed media paper and there was no previous sketch....the real practice here was to draw something without a sketch. - This actually took like 2 or 3 hours..something like that. xD




This is pretty much a drawing, it's done in soft pastel and prismacolor colored pencils. I also used erasers a lot to erase smudging and making highlights and stuff; this did have a previous sketch. I'm pretty happy how it turned out. This is also on my mixed media paper. - Overall I'm pretty happy with it.
I used cotton swabs, and a colorless blender pencil to blend, and of course nothing like old fashioned finger blending...so yep that's all I've done in like a week or two, I'm so boring!

very impressive that you worked without a sketch on the first one! it looks great to me, i think your mix of watercolours and pencils worked out really well and the inked outlines are graceful and neat. i like the pastel one too, though my guess is you didn't step too far out of your comfort zone on that one? nice moko-ish picture all the same and good work on the blending!

I was rather proud of the sketch-less one myself!
The other one wasn't so much out of my comfort zone, but it was an attempt to make it look more "together" than the loose sketches I was doing. Now, the black and white ones I did in the post before this last one, those were a challenge!

This is my first time drawing this kinda bird without a tutorial. I did use my own sketches for reference, though.

Colored with watercolor pencil and mostly pan watercolor paint by Artist's Loft (Micheal's Arts Stores brand). That brand is more...solid looking when it dries than normal watercolor. White pen and white paint for highlights and small details, and a sharpie for the eyes.



I dunno what to say about this, I used watercolor from Niji and watercolor pencils, inked with a sharpie and a pigma 01 pen. I haven't felt like drawing figures for a while so I wanted to try and draw this.

Those are very sweet Moko, you have a great talent for this kind of art.

moko: i love that colourful parrot! good work on both pictures. i like the look of those watercolours you used for the parrot, looks like something i'd like to try if i can find it over here. it's nice to see you making characters again - i like this one's style a lot, always had a thing for archers (i used to want to be robin hood when i grew up, children under ten have such hilarious career expectations...)
i thought the tail of your character looked a bit stiff, but i changed my mind. it's probably because it's so close to the arrow and my eyes sort of read the lines together.

I have a book on how to draw birds for kids so I followed a few of those and colored them with soft pastel and colored pencil, little bit of white pen and the outlines are a sharpie.




I also drew some hands ( I hate drawing hands! ), the peace sign and the hand holding a bottle I tried to model my own hand, the other hand was just out of my head.

Do you have in America colouring pencils that can be used with a paint brush as well? (Colour your picture in and then with a wet brush go over the picture and move the colour to where you want it) Or is this exactly what you do? As well as the other

I have only used them a few times myself and am amazed at how you can fix a little colouring error with it.
I had to refresh my page again to see your coloured bird. It is gorgeous

I haven't been drawing as much, but I did do a few things recently...

Here's 2 ink drawings. They each too me around 3 to 3.5 hours.
Sharpie, Pigma Sensi, and Pigma Micron pens and a white pen.

mokonafan: excellent line art. i like your compositions here, especially the generosity and the curves of the top one, but the bottom one too is very good. and i think it always pays off to put time down on the shading, like you've done in these. five out of five!

Nice work again, but I particularly like the fish drawing.

These are harder for me because I'm used to mixing different media's together when coloring.

Pen and watercolor, with white pen. I was drawing from memory a Mark Crilley tutorial on how to draw the same person from baby to adult. I was trying to remember his points for how to draw a baby.
I like how loose the lines are, not so bold and thick. It was hard for me to do that. I like to go bold!



Simple but Mixed Media:

This one started out with me not having any plan at all, but then I ended up with an idea. It's going to end up being a gift for someone.

Pen, Watercolor, White Pen, and Crayola (washable) Markers.


This was meant to be a more lighthearted drawing, and more illustrative. The flower is a poppy and the rounds things are supposed to be buds not thistles, though I think I might have drawn them wrong.

Pen, Watercolor,, White Pen and Soft Pastel. - This is the first time I've ever combined pastel and watercolor. If anyone wants to try, be sure it's dry watercolor before you do anything else you'll end up with a pastey mess!
Again I like the relatively thin lines, though it was hard for me not to go bold!



I'm not sure if it means anything but I used bottled water to paint with. (It tasted terrible so I figured gonna use it for something)

So that's been my week! I have limited internet so nothing else to do, gonna draw! xD

I was trying to make the one with the fishy have lots of curves, since whenever you see footage of plants underwater they're never pointing straight up like a plant on land would. I'm glad you think I accomplished that!

Yes, Those are called watercolor pencils, or water soluble pencils. I use those a lot.
