trandoductin: you did it! i want to give this a try too, but it might take me a while to get over my command line phobia. it looks worth it, though, i spend a lot of time manually refeeding that deep dream generator.

AnMal:hehe command line phobia? come on... If you're really afraid of command line, you can always try 'powershell' on Windows instead of 'command', it has a blue screen instead of that ugly looking black screen.

I am running it on mona lisa right now, and it seems to go through series of birds and then snake heads..a lot green snake heads...
which got me thinking/wondering if google trained the neural net with only images of Jesus, if it would only dream fantasy images of Jesus... that'd be cool.

Also, I thought it would be cool if they made a website where you can give it directory of images to train with and then give it an image to dream so that you can personally give it a set of your own selected images...although i don't think it's simple as that... i think training it is more involved than just giving it a set of images, you probably have to tell it what the image is actually of so it knows what to remember/recognize and so on...it's a wonder though.

sallyanne: i love it! it looks like your little critters are having fun in there. you can post your images in the other thread, though - or am i being too fussy about this? i just so like to have techie talk and image results in different threads, easier to remember where to go when you need to go back to read or look at something.

trandoductin: blue screens are terrible! i associate them with embarrassing failure in code writing in the obligatory computer class back in the eighties. awful, awful, awful. no, i'll just brave the command lines on that black screen. hmm... suppose it takes a lot of training to teach those thingies to recognise images. wonder if the process will be speeded up in the future and everyone will be training their own deep dream generators?

yeah being able to train your own deep dream generators would be awesome. I wonder if they trained it using the whole internet if it would like create mash-up fantasies of body parts because of porn.

I have never worked with Lua or gitHub before so i'll have to dig around before i can get this going.
Looks so much..the ability to apply a style of an artist onto an existing image.
(cross my fingers on getting this to go on my Windows 10 laptop [since this readme is Linux biased])

Unfortunately, I have an AMD Graphics card so don't have CUDA (my old system used NVidia w/ CUDA capabilities). There's a GIMP plugin calle gluas that can run LUA scripts. Haven't played with it since ol' Betsy died on me though. Check link below for a thread I started way back when.

wow you sound like you know about it more than i do ...i haven't even looked at Graphics card requirements...gotta check to see what my laptop has..I thought it just software i hope it doesn't require hardware capabilities.

just read the readme again...it listed CUDA under optional dependencies so maybe it's not required.

Yeah; you may not want to run it without GPU acceleration though Tran. Not sure if the program supports OpenGL or not. CUDA is a closed system for NVidia cards.
