I played around with a fractal this evening and colourised it in gimp.

It is a nice program. I have advertised this already. I hope I don't get banned for doing it again.
JWildfire is an innovative image-processing package featuring the most advanced flame-fractal-software available. It is Java-based, open-source and runs on any major computer-plattform.
There is even a special Android-version for mobile devices.
jwildfire.org You can download it from there if you haven't got it. I only used the scripts that came with the software too.
With the purple ones I colourised it in gimp.

No problem with FOSS sallyanne. :)
I've checked it out, it looks very good. Lot's of features and options.

Neat images :). I love the shading on them. What did you use to get the fractal?

Thank you. I've downloaded it and I've been playing with it. It's mostly quite intuitive but I have the same problem I have with Apophysis - all my shapes are horribly speckled and I can't get anything that I like. You seem to have got the hang of it though. :) AnMal thinks this one is fantastic too. I've pinned it to my fractals board in Pinterest.

I notice a lot of specks in mine too. Thought it was maybe because I only have a 32 bit computer.
Are you running your images through the interactive renderer as well? Might take awhile to get them all to go or you can keep some as a blur.

I'll look into that. I probably just need to spend more time with the software.
