Has anyone heard of or used PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, PDF Craft, EffectCraft, DesignCraft, or WordCraft? Apparently they are free & open source.
I'm just curious if they are worth the hype.

I saw that on the pricing page, but on the home page where the downloads are, it doesn't say anything like that.

Why not just download and try. I got a couple of linux appimages, not large files 70 - 80 MB

The interface is a bit big for a HD (1920x1080) display, probably intended for those with a 4K monitor.

Not an intensive trial, if everything works there is a lot there, the photo opened a raw file straight away. For linux, the print function actually worked (to my amazement). All the color modes and bit depths there.

The vector app much the same, opened an old pdf, used default fonts and a message if you wanted to find the original. You can save(export) as a SVG or PDF.

Thankd for your take on it Rich2005. I might try the AI powered photoshop alternative. I'd never heard about it before.

didn't even get 2 minutes free. I downloaded it and first thing I tried to do it wanted $. So it's been deleted

I'll stick to Inkscape, been using it for my paid labor 2 years now. Good money saver.
SK1 was a promising vector application, but the last version is from 2021, when the founder unfortunately passed away. Works on Win11.

Probably used the wrong option. Maybe better sticking with Gimp.

Does not stop anyone trying it.

Go to https://getartcraft.com/apps/photocraft and follow the trail to the standalone options. The previous post showed the linux appimage but a try in a Win 11 VM and the portable version (about an 80 MB download)



I unzipped, and for a test put on the desktop. Ran the photocraft.exe. It did come up with a missing dll message (windows.data.pdf.dll) in my cut-down Win 11. Popped that in and it works. As far as I can tell it does not phone home. Maybe someone can give a more extensive test.



Reports do say it is not fully developed so it remains work-in-progress. Might be useful for a user who wants a less complicated tool or like me just curious
