Steampunk Bronze Logo in Gimp and Blender

I've been tinkering about in Gimp and Blender trying to make a logo for my website. It's supposed to have a bit of a steampunk feel to it.

It's not bad, but it's kind of unrecognizable as to what it's suppose to be.
Maybe it's only me that can't recognize what it is. :oops:

artloader: i love the gears, but i'm a bit mystified by the general shape. at least i think i am, but then i thought maybe the center part is an "a" for "artloader"? if it is, i think it's a brilliant ideanand a very pleasant shape of the letter, but it might need some more enhancing to really come across.

Is that an "A"?
You may be right about that AnMal, it does look like an "A".

- yes it is an A. I think I might tweak the bottom legs of the A so that it doesn't curve round - it may look more like an A then ...

Of course, you could be really lazy and use one of his pre-made letters, but where's the fun in that?

If I wanted to be creative, I'd start with an existing letterform, like one of these, (because it's easier to start with an existing metallic letter than it would be to figure out how to get metallic letters using a font in Gimp) and then start stacking layers of gadgets until I got the look I wanted. Or google "metallic industrial letter alphabet" for more image ideas.

Perhaps one of the real gurus here might be able to point us to a metallic font, or a way of creating metallic letters from an existing font, please?

Wow that Bevel Reflect plugin looks awesome, thanks Wallace. I will have to give that a try at some point. In the meantime I've tweaked my logo a little, hopefully it looks more like an A now.

That looks tons better. A little drop shadow would also be a nice touch.
