More 3D work with Blender to create a character from scratch (she appears previously in my gallery). Current state (this is really one version old at this point already, I continuously update and tweak things as I find things I've done stupidly).
Much of the 3D art workflow is really less artistic and more technical, understanding what makes for an actually usable 3D model.

At this point I had not rigged the model yet, so she could only look straight ahead ... :)

Rigged (which means I can move her around, change where she looks etc)! Testing out the facial muscle rigging. Also slapped some better lighting on her.

I reworked this model (of the same character) completely, this one not only has better topology, but is also (now) rigged better, without things going haywire when making certain poses. My learning journey with Blender has gone on for almost six months at this point, but I'm getting more comfortable with the program and I think I'll be able to make some use of this for character studies etc.

This variation worked off a base mesh (I did one from a sphere previously) for speed. Also used hair cards for the hair (rather than particles) this time around - much easier to control. I also rigged the hair (doesn't show here).

Hands were a bit big initially, so scaled them down, which messed with the joints a bit, so will need to work on that.

Feedback is welcome! This is based on my existing character work of this character, you can see some examples of it here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20987

Thanks Wallace and gasMask!
The UX of Blender has improved a lot over time. It's still a lot of work to understand it all, but at least the interface is not the main hurdle anymore. :)
