Lyle posted about the future of editing and referenced a few other node based tools, which reminded me of one I haven't seen referenced here in the forum before... Nodebox (now out of Beta)

I used this a while back to create some compass roses for maps I was working on, and made a small video to demonstrate how simple it is to create variations with a tool like this:
www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

(You might need to go full screen to see the detail).

check out the site, give it a try. Makes it "easy" to be "creative" when you are better with a calculator than a pencil (speaking of myself here)

Wow Rob, NodeBox is very cool thanks for mentioning it.
After a bit of toying around, I can't wait to give it a real go.

Cool stuff Rob; might have to toy with this one when my mind is rested to try yet another tool. Thanks for sharing. :)

Nodebox 3 is the full (java based) GUI node editor. The OpenGL package is a library that can be used to program using Python to create stuff.

I've only used the GUI node editor. As far as I know the back end for Nodebox 3 is the OpenGL package.
