Completely new to this. Downloaded the program several months ago, but never used it. Watched a few tuts tonight, and came up with this. Nothing spectacular mind you, but a start none the less.

Not hard to learn at the basic level, for sure. Here's where I started: http://www.sketchup.com/learn/videos?playlist=58

I like the extrusion tool and i wish Inkscape had one like it. Interpolate and path extrude work okay but it isn't the same.

Very interesting Warrior and Akros. I watched the video. Looks reasonably easy.

Thanks for sharing both of you. :bigthup

It really is fairly easy. I was watching some of the more advanced techniques, and those would probably take a bit to learn.

I visited my youngest son last weekend.
He's a mechanical engineer and does some work on the side.
To produce drawings which can be used by a construction firm he uses Autocad.
But to show a client what the finished product will look like he uses SketchUp.
He showed me what he had designed and it was great.
He also showed me how to use it,similar to what you see in the tut.
Not for Linux though.
Gerard.

My brother used to use Autocad, and Pro Engineering at his former job.
