Hey Drac; the current version of G'MIC doesn't allow brush rotation (new one does). You have to physically (if you will) rotate the target incrementally for a full 360 degrees and save the result as a gih. The setting depend on if you have all the images side by side in a single layer, or already have them vertically in their own layers. If the later (didn't download your XCF yet), then you have to know how many layers (cells) and how you want them applied (usually I'm simplistic so keep the ranks as the same as cells). You also have to choose how you want the cells dispersed (random, angular, etc.). :)

Here you go. I set up two of them, one that is random, and one that depends on the angle. I could not get them to save correctly in greyscale so you have to create a layer above your brush strokes set the mode to what looks best and merge down. :D
Also this script helps out:

Not sure how GMIC comes into the picture. I just manually made duplicate layers and rotated each one 15 degrees as I went, until I had full rotation and a total of 24 layers.

Which one of the "dispersal settings" makes the brush rotate from one layer to the next in order, so that the brush rotates as it is stroked across the image? Am I correct in assuming that the Random setting just selects layers at random? I should probably start another thread cuz this aint Metal Wurx.

Thanks for the great tutorial. The finished product turned out really nice.

Darn it! that's the tut I was looking for but it was a script in the registry and not a tut. That's why I couldn't find the darn thing. I knew I had seen it before. They work great now.

Argh; meant to same GIMP. lol

I use G'MIC so much that I now have intertwined the two in my vernacular. lol

I see you got the Script to work. To make it go to the immediate next layer in order you chose the incremental option but by now I'm sure you figured that one out. :)

Ya, I just prefer them to rotate to the origin angle. Adds a cleaner feel, but thats just me. I can do this for anyone if they want just ask and send original xcf to be rotated.

I just wanted to say thanks again for doing these. I'm enjoying them. I'll post whenever I come up with something from these.

I think it's called "An Amazing Font" or something like that. Can't remember where I got it but it's free.
