If you click the mouse on:

c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\gimp-2.10.exe

I am convinced that new themes will be available.

I will check that and post a screenshot.

This is what I see:
[ Image ]

There are no new themes within that part of gimp on my machine. There's also no need to get frustrated. If anyone should be frustrated it should be me since I can't seem to get the theme selector to work.

Not there, Mackenzie. In your: \Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\themes

Pocholo,

Those themes are still there. However, when I use the theme selector and select a theme, for example:
Image

Running GIMP:
Image

What I see when GIMP is finished loading:
Image

Where themes are located within GIMP:
Image

As you can see, the Local Progams Folder is where the standard themes are. That is where they were placed when I had reinstalled gimp. No other theme locations are there for the theme selector to work.

@Pocholo

You can adjust the font type and size differently:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19154&start=10#p261235%20...
and have a preview directly in Gimp by clicking on the next theme.
However, it is very good to have several solutions. :yes

OK. But if you still have a GIMP in the wrong directory the Selector won't work. c:\Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs This is you User AppData Local Programs folder. Go there and show me what you got in that folder, please.

I don't have that plugin, I missed that thread. :coolthup Maybe you can create a Theme selector like the GTK but easier.

You can check it again.
Find a file:
c:\Users\macke\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\themerc
Delete it and restart Gimp.

It's fine. No harm done. :) Did you see my previous post?

Yes. As MareroQ stated, when you re-installed GIMP, GIMP installed in the wrong location: c:\Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs . You need to uninstall GIMP in that location or you're going to get a lot of errors.
It's seem you have two installed.

Pocholo and MareroQ,

As I have stated before, I do not have two versions of gimp installed. According to this Revo Uninstaller screenshot, there is only one version of gimp installed:

Also, this is the version I have:

I've already done that, but I will do it again.

I have done that and it still does the exact same thing it's done. The theme selector on my end still isn't working.

Mackenzie, In post #68 it shows that GIMP is installed in the wrong location directory. c:\Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs This is the wrong directory, that is why you have conflicting files.

You have to uninstall GIMP completely.
1. It means that you have to go to the Windows "Control Panel" and uninstall GIMP 2.10.32
2. Go to your C:\Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs and delete GIMP 2 completely.
3. Go to your Programs in : C:\Program Files and delete the GIMP 2 folder there too and delete completely.
4. Once you do that you will start fresh. Now you can Install GIMP. Make sure that GIMP install in this directory only
C:\Program Files
Image

After installing GIMP don't do anything. I will guide you for the themes. :)

Only confirmation by looking at the dates:
#59 cannot be installed on 7/29/2022 gimpa with the date 7/26/2022. [c:\Program Files\GIMP 2]
Today's date is at #68 [c:\Users\macke\AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 2]
Just my guess: the correct location has not been chosen again.

I believe Mackenzie had GIMP already installed on the right location or some sort of file where there installed manually. As she try to installed GIMP again, GIMP will not suggest where to install it. It will installed in a place that GIMP chooses automatically.
This happened to me once, GIMP installed, without suggesting, started to install in my Profile folder. Luckily I caught it in time and I stopped the process.

Those dates you're looking at are the modified dates of those folders, before I uninstalled it the first time...not the install dates.

The dates you are looking at are the dates the file was modified before uninstalling it the first time. The second time I installed it GIMP, the installation date was 7/27/2022:

@Pocholo.
It happened to me as well. :hehe
I guess it wasn't always like that, but now when you choose Customize you can check where Gimp will be installed (#57).
Worse, when it shows some other strange location with no choice (remnants in the registry to be cleared!).
Although you can also manually correct everything - move it from one location to another (this is what I do with older versions that I want to keep - I make them portable).

The thing is, I did not customize it. I never customize gimp when I get it from gimp.org and download it from there.

Before installing GIMP, it says this:

When I choose to install it, I choose "Install for me only" because I am the only one using my laptop.

@ MareroQ; Yes, thank you. After that day I always click on "Customize to make is installing in the right directory.

@ Mackenzie Yes, you should click on Customize to make sure, where GIMP is installing and be safe.

I will try that even though I never had to do that with the previous versions.

Pocholo,
I found the problem. The problem was when I hit Install For Me Only. I guess it didn't like that. So I went the other way and it's working and it is now placed in Program Files.

I have reinstalled it and this is what comes up when it loads:
Image

This is what it looks like when it is done loading:
Image

I haven't touched anything. However, when I looked in the GIMP 2 themes folder this is there:
Image

AND when I go into GIMP Preferences within GIMP, this is there:
Image

The installation isn't the problem. Something else is.

As I dug deeper, I went to the Themes Folder in Preferences and came upon this:
Image

So, now I'm thinking that maybe one of the two folders needs to point to GIMP...

Low and behold, I have figured it out. I had to add the user folder to the main Themes Folder in Gimp so it could point to it. That's what isn't in the instructions... where to point the themes folder.
