Right again Wallace, so much potential - here was I thinking this topic/script was only text relevant (GIMP innocence is my excuse!). So I tried Molly's drawings as per ofnuts instructions, then as I was gardening earlier today, I got some relevant dingbats and tried this script on them!!

oldmangrumpy I loved the butterfly so much that i tried something
Image
although it ended a little extreme 10 paths per color was a Tadd to much, will modify later, but how did you color your butterfly it looks like colors from a gradient

I would guess a selection from the top path followed by a radial gradient.

Thats basically it Graechan/Ofnuts; the script in typical mode against the butterfly dingbat first, then selected top path, filled it first with red, then because of a weird vision I remember of butterflies I saw as a kid, I applied a radial gradient partially across the wing. Thats it - learning a great deal right now thanks to you Gimp gurus!!

Great pictures everyone.
@ofnuts, when I shrink the small butterfly down to 2/3 the size, I drag in down then over to the center and it doesn't matter where I place it, I end up with 2 or 3 holes. Could you please explain where I move it to... thanks

With scale tool in "Path" mode reduce "Small" to 2/3 or original size, and move it down

But you are using a large brushes in 'stroke' mode and few paths, while I use more paths and 'fill' mode, so the results are going to be different.

Thanks ofnuts, I didn't use a brush, I just used the gradient tool and stroked the gradient that way. I will try it again with your setting for the small image.

ok, are you saying we dont have to have a brush? Just set it to gradient then stroke? Thats cool. Here I have been changing the brush size and brush type.
Thanks
Looks pretty good except for his long freckles and eyes. :lol . I probably didn't move it down correctly, so I sort of centered it. dunno

That's cute Molly.
Those are the longest freckles I've even seen.

Ah, OK. Selection of the Gradient tool at that point isn't useful, since the stoking is done using brushes (it's not even the paint brush even if it uses brushes, but some script-specific paint engine...)
