Sorry, I couldn't help the alliteration in the subject line of "Skin, Sharpening, and Stubborn Stains".

Apparently I couldn't help it a second time either.

So someone had asked me about other uses for wavelet decompose detail scales, and I realized that even though I use them all the time for sharpening my images, I never really addressed it directly. So I am seeking to rectify that with this post.

I talk about using Wavelet Decomposition scales for skin retouching...



But that's old news. Whats fun is using the different levels for sharpening an image (same idea as using Wavelet Sharpen directly, but a little more manual here), or for enhancing local contrast on fine-ish details as well.

Oh, and once you think about images as a collection of detail scales, you'll find it trivially easy to come to a fast and easy solution for fixing things like this:



Literally less than 5 minutes of work, and all of the fine texture is retained!

I don't have this plugin. Is there an updated version available for Gimp 2.8?

Oh, I'm using a Partha build. However I've never use this plugin before.
