Rubber Texture... Wonderful.

I needed
First Tire Texture required 'Water Level=365".
Hub required 'Ambient= some Value".

Hey Rashid, that came out great! Your hubcap actually makes it look like the tire has a bead on it! Very realistic!

Great tut PhotoMaster! I learned a lot about Gimp on this one. Of course I still have lots to learn about gimp. I made some Mooney HubCaps and mounted them on an appropriate Hot Rod....

Thanks PhotoMaster. I got a little lost trying to find the "Paths" tab. I apparently deleted it awhile back cause' I didn't know what it would be used for. Took a while to find and add it back. First time using paths for me in Gimp. I'm learning a little bit each time i play with it.

I'm new to Gimp, but certainly not new to photo editing. I have used a very large number of photo editors prior to Gimp. I'm currently running a PS hack in Gimp and I changed a bunch of keyboard short-cuts so that it would behave in a more predictable manor. All in all, I like Gimp a lot, even with all it's quirks.

What I did to get a good feel for paths, was to make a box using four points and dragging the sides to make it a circle out of it. It's fun to make crazy curved paths, too.

Amazing PM. I like the texture you have in the tyre

Unfortunately I cannot get past the first airbrush step. It doesn't look correct.
I have tried the bump map step but it still isn't looking right. Specially if I am to have a plain area outside and inside the tyre. It's not happening for me

Looks like I am the only one having trouble. Have tried 4 times unsuccessfully now.

Thank you Photomaster, great technique for getting the rubber Tyre effect. I think I get what you mean sallyanne, I'm going to have another play to get some smooth radial strips.

Cool name OMG!

Only thing I did different yesterday was I saw the 15% as 18% (85% I saw correctly) so put the guides in the wrong place. [The airbrushing was either filling the whole image and leaving just the corners.]
I have finally done a simple tyre - no background. I didn't run the 3D bevel on it either as I cannot find it in gimp. I have installed it twice. I never have trouble with installing scripts and finding them
