the reason you "dont see anything", is because layerfx apparently has a bug concerning the layergroup
i dont know what exactly is the problem and i find it quite odd that it has not been fixed yet

Argh, Layer groups are still a mystery to me. I need a simple beginner explanation for those.

I use the 2.6 version 'layerfx.py' and not 'layerfx 2.8.py' because it does not use layer groups and functions OK in 2.8

I would use the layerfx 2.8.py . I would delete the layerfx.scm

Go to your Scripts folder and find it there, then delete
